“To every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

Fall will be here in T-minus 2 days! Yes, this Friday, September 23, 2011 will mark the beginning of a new season. The word season in its original language means, “an appointed occasion or time.” Each season represents something whether it is rain, warmth, or snow; but what will this fall season represent for you? What will you change for this season? How will you change to bring in a fresh, new, appointed time?

Lose the issues and save the relationship. The primary relationship we want to save is our relationship with God; but what about our relationships with one another? How can we lose the issues without losing relationships too? Answer: Let God be the mediator. Don’t try to be the rectifier of negative issues in your life. Let God work through you to bring them to peace and a proper end. Trying to use “your way” to solve problems, won’t work; that’s God’s specialty. Save the relationship by learning to love the person, yet disliking the issues the person may bring.

Carrying in dead relationships and issues of the past will not produce the proper growth necessary for your new season. So God will often remove the old things in our lives to make more room for the new. The question is are we prepared for the change? Are we transforming by renewing our minds—constantly (Romans 12:2)? You may have to let go of the weeds of the past and cut ties at the root to renew your mind. You will have to lose the mess, the baggage, the drama, and the troubles in order to transform. Don’t allow negative issues or relationships to spill over into your new season.

This is your season of change! Begin to pray those things out of your life that have no place in this new appointed time God is bringing you to. Release relationships that drained you and filled you with negativity. Surround yourself with those who will encourage you, yet hold you accountable. Hold on to those who will see God in you and support you to do things His way. Then watch power, strength, and soundness of mind begin to grow all around you.

Make sure the issues of yesterday don't distract you from the invincible God of today! Live in the N.O.W. There are New Opportunities Waiting for you in your new season. Push past the negatives, hurts, or pains of your past. Accept those things for what they taught, but move on and live in the present moment. This is your season of change! What will it represent for you?
