YOU'VE GOT TO REMEMBER

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” (Romans 15:4)

What does the Guinness World Records, The Hall of Fame, or the Olympic Games have in common? These all involve events where people compete to be remembered for something. Many records have been beaten. Even more records have been forgotten.

But there is one record that no one will ever be able to delete or beat…God’s Record. When was the last time you opened up “God’s Book of Records,” His Word, the Bible? In Romans 15:4, we are reminded that the things written before our time were written for our learning. Typically we can get so caught up in what’s happening (or not happening) right before our eyes that we forget that there is a God who has excelled in the record-breaking business!
  • If you think God doesn’t have a cure for your loneliness and desiring for a mate...Check the Record. Didn’t He make a helpmeet for Adam (Genesis 2:18-22)? Wait on Him to do what He will do.
  • If you think God can’t get you through your storms…Check the Record. Didn’t He calm the waves of the sea (Mark 4:37-41)? Watch Him calm the storms that arise in your life as well.
  • If you think God can’t heal your sicknesses…Check the Record. Didn’t He make the blind to see and the lame to walk (Matthew 15:30-31)? Could He not heal your body too?
  • If you think God can’t bring you to a new position in your career…Check the Record. Didn’t He prepare David to be king after Saul (1 Samuel 16:1-13)? God can use the smallest of persons to do the biggest of jobs.
  • If you think God doesn’t understand what you’re going through…Check the Record. Didn’t He understand, feel, and fulfill the needs of the Woman of Samaria (John 4:1-29)? He knows and loves you no matter what your past looks like.
  • If you think God can’t relieve your feelings of Depression…Check the Record. Didn’t He feed and nourish Elijah when he was down and out (1 Kings 19:1-8)? He will provide for you too when you’re feeling hopeless.
  • If you think God can’t help your marriage…Check the Record. Didn’t He create marriage to be a lovely, yet sacrificial institution (Ephesians 5:21-33)? He can definitely work the kinks out of your marriage starting today.
God can forgive! God is merciful! God is gracious! Check His record, He has never been too busy, too lazy, or too weak to bring victory to the righteous (1 Corinthians 15:57). This Midweek Push is to help you remember the record of God. There’s a cliché that says, “don’t forget where you came from,” today we urge you to embrace a new one—“Don’t Forget What God Can Do.” God can do the impossible, the unimaginable, and the unbelievable. Check the Record.

Will you rely on His Record? What will you remember about Him today?
