Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

We’re sure you’ve read this passage of scripture numerous times. You’ve probably heard many sermons preached or classes taught regarding your body being the temple of God that it becomes repetitive speech versus real life application. satan wants you to just hear sermons & read scriptures without ever applying what you’ve learned. When you do that, he pushes you farther away from God. There are two people competing for your temple (God and satan), so let’s look at our body from their perspectives and from there you can choose whom you want to yield your temple to.

satan’s Perspective: One of the devil’s many tools is to use doubt and unbelief on us, as he did in the lives of Adam and Eve. You can hear him now, “You won’t surely die if you...” or “Did God really really say you shouldn’t do this...;” satan knows a little bit of scripture (Genesis 3:4, Matthew 4:1-11) and so he strives to use it to place uncertainty in your life. satan wants you to defile the temple and he will be more than happy to help you. He will tempt you with food, to eat or not to eat; He will tempt you with money, to buy or not to buy. He will tempt you with sex, to fornicate or remain pure, to commit adultery or stay faithful. He will trick you with your style of dress, the way you talk and think, and so many other ways. He is after the single women and the married ladies too. You must be aware of his tactics. satan’s coming after you! Any time he places a little bit of doubt in your mind, it takes your focus off of God. Today, satan is going to tempt you with a “should I or shouldn’t I,” “it’s not that bad,” or a “no one is even watching me.” Don’t fall prey to his trick; suit up (Ephesians 6).

God’s Perspective: God doesn’t have His hands behind His back. He’s laid it all out in front of you in His Word. He is transparent, not tricky. He loves you, not waiting for you to lose. God created you in His image and desires to have a relationship with you. He created you knowing what you would have to face. Outside of giving you the armor to protect yourself, He has given you the ultimate weapon against satan, JESUS. If you are in Christ, you have the power to defeat satan, just as Jesus did. God will never tempt you with evil, that’s satan. God has promised to supply all your needs; don’t fall into the doubt trap, get into the Divine Territory! God loves you so much that He gave it all, the greatest sacrifice...just for you! God is not willing that anyone should perish, and that includes you. According to 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, God will destroy any man that tries to defile the temple. Knowing this, satan is already defeated, so don’t let him take you down with him. Remember, God won’t allow satan to touch you without His permission (Job 1:6, 2:1), so he ultimately cannot hurt you unless you allow him to. God has your back, He trusts you to make the right decisions about your temple.

Today, realize you don’t have to give in to sin and defile the temple of God. You don’t have to wear your blouses low or skirt tails high to show off God’s temple to the world. You don’t have to pollute your soul or cloud your judgment to blend in with society. God has a divine plan for your temple and that is to show the world His glory through you. Give Him the opportunity today!
