Midweek Push

Today is Wednesday. The dreaded hump day. It’s the “how-am-I-going-to-get-through-the-rest-of-this-week” day. The zeal has dwindled down. You’ve switched from feeling AWESOME on Monday to Average by Wednesday. You’ve grown tired from demands. The excuses and laziness are rolling in as your daily regimen has become skimpy and sketchy; yet the scriptures encourage you to keep going and persevering through each day. (“Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything,” James 1:4.)

How will you get over the hump this week? Most preachers, teachers, or counselors will normally present a 3-step plan to help you solve or get through anything, including a long week. Today, we leave you with one less step (not to add more items to your to-do lists) to get you over the hump! This two-step is not the dance but it can be repeated and shuffled throughout the day and week to keep you going! It’s easy to learn and goes like this.

Step 1: Take One Prayer at a Time

Prayer changes things. It soothes, calms, heals, and connects us to God. Prayer is a command given in scripture (1 Thessalonians 5:17, Ephesians 6:18, Luke 18:1, Philippians 4:6, Colossians 4:2, 1 Timothy 2:1, Jude 20). It will strengthen you and give you clarity needed for the next moment. Pray when you can’t see where your goals and career and life are leading you. Take it one prayer at a time. Keep your mind focused on the now instead of the weekend and maintain a sense of trusting in God to see you through today.

Step 2: Take One Step at a Time

You may have given yourself goals and to-do’s for the week and are finding yourself lacking, behind, and falling off tremendously. God’s Word says, “The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down” (Psalm 145:14). He can catch you if you fall this week. Take it one step at a time. He will pick you up and place you back where you need to be. Don’t lose heart; He already knows what’s ahead of you. Put your plans into His hands so that He can direct your every step accordingly.

Typically, most dance crazes have a time to repeat what you just learned. This keeps the previous moves at the forefront of your mind. The same can be said for this Two-Step. Consistency can set you up for progress in every area of your life. Repeat the prayers and continue to take steps in positive directions. We become overwhelmed, overworked and worn when we try to be superwomen of God. He doesn’t desire this. He wants you to pray throughout the day and take your walk with Him one step at a time.

Getting through each week can be as easy as taking two steps.
