I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.” (Jeremiah 31:25, NIV)

God’s children get tired. For one: we are in constant combat with the enemy; and two: we get bogged down with schedules (school, work, personal, and service) and lose track of all the hours in the day. However, the Lord knows that we’re tired. He also knows that coming to Him is the stop that will refill our souls.

If you’re honest, there may be some days when you know that you are not at your best. It’s not that you’re not thankful or filled with cheer; it’s just that you may be weary and worn-out; and that is okay. God’s daughters need a breather every once and a while.

It boils down to this; you need to find time to rest. It doesn’t mean you love God less, or that you’re slothful, it simply means it’s time to surrender your body, mind, and soul to be refueled, rekindled, and replenished for the Master’s use.

Here are a few signs that you need some rest:

• You can’t think straight,
• Your prayers are choppy or filled with yawns,
• You get angry quickly,
• Your work is unrewarding, incomplete, or nonexistent, or
• You’ve been told that you need to rest.

Your Spirit doesn’t like that feeling, and the Lord doesn’t want to see His child exhausted. He knows you need time to recuperate. He rested (Genesis 2:2) and Jesus rested too (Mark 6:31)!

Your Father knows the rhythms of your body, the tick of your mind, and every pressure that stresses your soul. Take a moment today to pray and ask Him to remove whatever it is that’s causing you weariness and ask that He restore your energy. The Lord will deliver rest quickly and give you the tools you need to refuel.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
