Mountain Moving Monday: Bold

The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.” (Proverbs 28:1)

Word Study: Bold

The original meaning of bold in this verse is taken from the Hebrew word, Batach which means to be confident, sure, or secure.

Let’s look at the word bold in the scripture above to see how it applies to our lives.

We must first recognize why the wicked are fleeing in this verse. It is because of a guilty conscience. A guilty conscience of sin will make you jumpy, will cause you to run, and will keep you on edge, all for fear of being caught. The righteous however reserves to keep their consciences clear and pure so that they have no reason to fear but rather to stand secure when situations seem challenging.

A bold lion will not cower or whimper at the sight of other animals; a bold lion will pursue situations vividly and maybe even sleep in the middle of the wild without fear. The righteous are not intimidated at the sight of the difficulties that get in their way; they pursue challenges head on; the righteous rest when everyone around them is going crazy.

Lions have heart. Similarly, our hearts should be firmly settled in the Lord. We have no reason to fear anything because Christ has overcome this world and satan’s prowl doesn’t have enough power for the woman who’s confidence is secure in the Lord. The righteous moves mountains with boldness because their hearts are pure.

Prayer:

Thank you Lord for the privilege of prayer. Thank you for empowering us with boldness. Thank you for taking away our shyness and fear. Thank you for walking with us when we’re uncertain of what’s ahead of us. Thank you for having faith in us and using us to perform your will. We pray for a deeper, bolder faith in the midst of this crazy, wild world. Thank you for your bold and beautiful son, Jesus whom we look up to. In His name we pray, Amen.

How will boldness move mountains today?
