Mountain Moving Monday: Perseverance

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
(Ephesians 6:18)

Word Study: Perseverance

The original meaning of perseverance in this verse is taken from the Greek word Pros-kar-ter-ay-sis, which means persistency.

Let’s look at the word perseverance in the scripture above to see how it applies to our lives.

Life's challenges often come when the time is inconvenient. Even when you have your armor on (Ephesians 6:11-18), holding on during the storm requires perseverance. This scripture speaks about watching and praying with perseverance; this means continually and with persistence. The way to demonstrate perseverance in your life is to maintain your position of prayer with a specific goal in mind. Whether your goal is peace, financial stability, dependence upon God, or salvation, perseverance must be key in achieving that goal.

Perseverance means don't stop. It is the strength to keep on moving when the odds are against you and the weights are heavy. Perseverance says, “that mountain may look large, ugly, and tedious, but I will push ahead anyway; I will not give up.” Look at Luke 18:1; we are to pray and not give up. Praying with perseverance shows God that you are allowing nothing to stop you from trusting Him to accomplish His will in your life. Perseverance will push, knowing God gives the strength. Tap into it. Develop the power to withstand obstacles and endure struggles by growing in perseverance.

Prayer:

Almighty God, we thank you for your love. Your love saved our lives. Lord, you are patient and continually restoring us daily. We want to demonstrate perseverance like you. You are constantly seeking intimacy with us, yet sometimes we overlook you. Deepen our hearts to desire to reach out to you more in prayer. Thank you Lord, for your Son and our Savior Jesus. In His precious, sinless name we pray believing, Amen.

How will perseverance move mountains today?
