Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Word Study: Pray

The original meaning of pray in this verse is taken from the Greek word Proseuchomai (pros-yoo-khom-ahee), which means worship, supplicate, and make prayer to God.

Let’s look at the word pray in the scripture above to see how it applies to our lives.

We read this verse often; it’s simple to memorize and easy to quote. Pray means to worship in the verse above and “without ceasing,” is defined as uninterrupted. This suggests that we should be in a constant state of worship at all times.

Nothing should interrupt your worship, not even a mountain. We often let our trials stop our worship to God. We lose strength, faith, and focus because we may not be in regular communication with the Lord.

Children of God should always be ready to worship no matter what.
Children of God should always be found praying without intermission.
Children of God know worship to God triumphs over our mountains.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the privilege of prayer. What a blessing to be called your daughters. We hope that when you look down you are proud of your creation. We pray that we are reminded daily by the verse above to stay constant, unceasingly, uninterruptedly in worship to you. God we have many reasons to praise your name, beginning with you saving our souls! We desire to dig deeper into a wholesome relationship with you that will allow us to triumph over our mountains through the power of endless worship. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

How will you pray to move mountains today?
