Mountain Moving Monday: Dwell

Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.”
(Psalm 133:1)

Word Study: Dwell

The original meaning of dwell in this verse is taken from the Hebrew word Yashab, which means to sit down, abide, to remain, to be set, stay, to be inhabited.

Let’s look at the word dwell in the scripture above to see how it applies to our lives.

Children of God are all working towards the same goal. That goal is heaven. Working independently is good at times, but God wants us to dwell together in unity. We may have different talents, gifts, and personalities; however, in the Lord we must learn to abide together, sit side by side, and serve without being judgmental, hateful, and envious.

Dwelling as a united front against satan, makes us something good and pleasant to look at; it is good and pleasant because God wants it.

Dwelling together means being united as a family, as a church, and as God’s people. The devil and and his mountains are outsiders that deserve no love in God’s family.

Dwelling together denotes being melted together. A three-stranded cord is not easily broken and having a bond of sisters around helps defeat the mountains that come our way.

Dwelling together means having something in common. And, we do… we have the same Lord and Master, the same heavenly hope, the same sufferings, the same trials, and the same joy for salvation!

We were designed for spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental togetherness and only in the Lord are we truly unified. So, let’s dwell together, tightly, like blood sisters, with the same mind, kicking down mountains that get in our way!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the privilege of prayer. What a blessing to be called your daughters. Lord, right now, help us to see how strong we are when we unite to defeat Satan and the mountains in our lives. Make our bonds resilient, spirit-filled, and devoted to you. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Will you dwell together in unity to move mountains today?
