For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (Romans 8:14)

We are on a journey. We are on a journey to complete wholeness in Christ. During this expedition we will have ups and downs, ins and outs, and troubles and joys. Our Father in heaven wants nothing more than His children to know Him completely. We often carry so much baggage and pack so many material possessions onto our lives all to make us complete. However, true completeness can only be found in the Lord, so we must release those things that falsely fill our spirits so that God can have full reign in our lives.

This first lesson is to bring your mind back to the Spirit who is going to lead you in this diet plan. At the sound of the alarm clock, we’re moving so fast that the Spirit has no chance of getting our attention, nor given an opening to move in our lives. This grieves God’s Spirit that lies within us (Ephesians 4:30), so let’s desire obedience instead and begin this diet plan to COMplete wholeness in Christ!

Physicians, coaches, and exercise gurus alike do not advise jumping into a diet or exercise regimen without proper preparation. They know the importance of waiting for instructions and creating a planning period, so that if at anytime you get off track you have a plan in place to get you back on.

You may be wondering, now what does waiting have to do with dieting. Shouldn't I be in motion, active, and accelerating to get the ball rolling towards the best results? When did waiting ever help me lose the weight?

During your spiritual diet plan to completeness, we suggest waiting first so that you can be sensitive and receptive to the Holy Spirit’s guidance. You are on a mission to drop the weight of incompleteness so that you can experience the fullness that God has to offer. Raise your hands if you want to feel complete in Christ! The Spirit’s leading will get you in the right direction for spiritual wholeness.

In order to be led, you must first wait for someone to come guide you. We read in John 16:13 that the Holy Spirit guides us into all truth, and in Romans 8:14, He leads us. But we must be still, wait, and obey.

So what are we “waiting” for?

Waiting allows you to become more sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit in your life. He may be guiding you towards:

• Spiritual Fitness (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)
• Spiritual Fortitude (Philippians 3:13-14)
• Spiritual Faithfulness (Matthew 25:21)

Wherever the Spirit guides, it’s where the Father wants you. If you ever get off track in following Christ, the Spirit brings all things to your remembrance (John 14:26) to help you tread the right path. He not only leads you while you wait, but also comforts if you ever get weary (John 14:16) and prays for you if the words won’t flow (Romans 8:26-27).

We need the Holy Spirit. He shouldn’t be feared, He’s a comforter; He shouldn’t be dismissed, He’s a true leader. The Holy Spirit must not be looked at as a lesser entity in the Godhead; when Jesus ascended, the Spirit was sent to believers to guide, comfort, and teach. The Holy Spirit cannot lead you apart from what the Bible teaches, so He can be trusted. He speaks as God speaks and God speaks to us through His word, the Bible. Guidance from the Spirit is confirmed through scripture…so wait on Him and hear where He wants to lead you.

It’s time to drop those unnecessary pounds that make you think you’re full when you’re just bloated. It’s time to be full of the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18)! Getting to complete wholeness in Christ requires that we give the Spirit opportunity into our lives. It’s an exchange of my way, for His leading; but He must be provided the chance to lead. Will you give Him that chance?

Resist the urge to jump into this exercise thinking you know everything there is to know about complete wholeness. No one can know it all, however the Spirit knows ALL that God knows (1 Corinthians 2:9-11). Without the Spirit, you cannot know the things of God. Many of us know a whole lot about the Bible and never know the Author of it. This should not be. Allow the Spirit to give you insight, guidance, and direction in experiencing complete wholeness. He can help you if you seek Him.

Questions to consider:

1. How can you allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in your everyday life?
2. Describe how you feel when it comes to waiting for the Spirit to move in you?
3. In what direction would you like for the Spirit to lead you?
4. Waiting time isn’t wasted time, so begin by submitting your plans to the Lord (Proverbs 16:3). What plans do you need the Father to perform in your journey to complete wholeness?

    1. ‎Debra, we are praying with and for you to give opportunity to the Holy spirit to guide you! Waiting does develop our patience and it's in those times, that God really grows us.
