"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Philippians 4:8)

SEVEN “TRUSTS” TO THINK ON

Sometimes we spend so MUCH time thinking about the storm, that we don’t trust God to get us through it. We can spend so much time “thinking” about being free that we never trust God to set us free. Stinking thinking keeps us trapped and bound, and creates a negative stronghold within itself.  Thinking TOO much can immobilize us. We can be so frozen in thought that we can’t step out on faith. The negative things we think on such as the:

what if’s,
what about’s,
shoulda’s
woulda’s
coulda’s, or the
if only’s,

can keep us from fully trusting in our Lord. These things that may never come to pass have us stuck in a prison, and God is holding the key right in front of our faces. The only way to take your mind off of those motionless thoughts is to begin to trust; not in your own ability, but in the Lord who has given the victory.

Here are SEVEN TRUSTS for you to think on to take your mind from frozen to faithful.

1. TRUST in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5)

2. Those who know your name TRUST in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. (Psalm 9:10)

3. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart TRUSTS in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. (Psalm 28:7)

4. A gossip betrays a confidence, but a TRUSTworthy person keeps a secret. (Proverbs 13:11)

5. Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of his servant? Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, TRUST in the name of the LORD and rely on his God. (Isaiah 50:10)

6. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you TRUST in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)

7. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always TRUSTS, always hopes, always perseveres. (1 Corinthians 13:6-7)

Philippians 4:8 tells us to think on things that are fruitful, positive, and praiseworthy. Is your mind going to those things or other less hopeful issues? If the situation hasn’t changed though you’ve been thinking about it for a while, it may be time to change your mind and trust the Lord to work it out.

Do you trust God? What must you free yourself from to ultimately trust God today?

  3. I love this lesson ladies...Thank you for imparting the word, impacting the word, and empowering the word. Ladies you always have a way of making me smile. I just knew this lesson was just for me. It was like a mirror of my old self. I remember when I was afraid to step out on my faith. I would always doubt myself and be frozen in my thoughts. It took me a while to break that negative stronghold, but now I'm a happier person than I've ever been , and I'm free...
