YOU ARE LIGHT IN THE DARK WORLD

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid." (Matthew 5:14)

How will I apply this passage to my everyday life?

  1. We are the salt of the earth. We are to stand out, be different, be a example, set apart. The world should know there is something different about you. A glow, not like others that are in the world. A light that is bright.

  2. How do I apply this to my world? I think the better question is how do I not. A light is hard to ignore. Example ...I am on vacation and have stayed in a few hotels. I carry clothespins in my comestics bag to make sure the outside safety lights don't come through the curtains when I close them at night but I can always see those little streams coming through at various points. And there is that thin stream of lite from the halfway that comes through the bottom of the door. So if I have the light of the Father, it should truly be hard to hide it. It should come out of me all the time and to an extent that others can't ignore it no matter how hard they try.
At times it should be big and bright like the daytime sun on a warm sunny day . But at times, the lite should be gentle and soothing. Maybe to those new to the idea of God..a soothing light to open their eyes to a new day.
We can't hide it....we can't ignore it, we can use it to guide us, we can use it to show the love of the Father. Shine on. Shine Jesus shine!

    Have a wonderful day...Susan

    1. Amen Susan,

Thank you for sharing this poignant example! IT pays to be a light in this dark world! A light cannot be denied.

  3. What I do in my life reflects who I am in Christ Jesus. If I'm sowing "good seeds" then I will reap good fruits. Everthing I do should be done for God's glory.

  4. (Melanie) I should remember that this world is not my home and that I'm here to make a difference; look significantly different. If I can light the dark world, then I can illuminate the dark places in my life that have me bound, expose them, and free myself. I light is a necessary tool.

Also, if I'm a city set on a hill then I must remember that all the world can see me, see my actions. My works (or lack of works) for the Lord will be seen. God knew that the world would be looking at me, so everyday I have to remind myself to walk worthy of the calling that He has placed within me!

  6. This verse lets me know that I should let my light shine no matter where I go. We reflect Christ's light and we cannot not be hid even on top of a hill. Someone will see the glow coming from you and will want you to share what you have.

  7. As a Christian I'm going to allow my light to shine so bright, so that others around me can see the Christ that is within me.
