He hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.” (Isaiah 53:2)

We recently watched a live painting of a modern depiction of our Savior Jesus. It was a beautiful masterpiece. However, after skipping past the amazement of this creative work of art, the initial thought that surfaced was, the person in this painting had nice eyes.

The next thought was, the scriptures didn’t mention a twinkle in the Lord’s eyes, or perfect bone structure in his face, nor the handsomeness of our Lord, but rather the word expressly mentions that He had no form or comeliness, and there is no beauty that we should desire Him. If anything, scripture mentions that He possibly, shines as jewels and lightning, and gleams like flames of fire (Daniel 10:6, Revelation 1:14-15).

Basically, Jesus lived a humble life. He didn’t loudly pronounce his coming in a robe of royalty. No pomp and circumstance welcomed his entrance into the world. There were no physical characteristics to distinguish Him as our divine deliverer. There was nothing special about Him to make us notice Him, to make Him physically attractive to us, or to make Him desirable to us.

So what is it? What qualities of the Lord would make you desire Him? Why is Jesus a treasure to you? What would cause you to take a second look and notice the Lord in your life?

Today, we only ask that you look deep within your heart and pour out those precious qualities about Jesus that makes Him a treasure to you. Is it His wisdom, His love, His patience, what is it about Him, that makes you desire to choose Him over all others?
