"About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose." (Acts 16:25-26)

We were recently listening to the song "Break Every Chain" by Tasha Cobb and couldn't help but think about Paul and Silas. It sounds silly we know, but if you remember the story, Paul and Silas were locked up, bound in prison, with chains on their hands and feet and they began to sing. It didn't matter that they were in prison, they sang.

As they were singing their praise of joy to God in a place you wouldn't think was joyful, Paul and Silas' chains were broken (along with the chains of the other prisoners) by a mighty earthquake.

Does your praise have that kind of ripple effect?

Can you imagine a song of joy "loosing" you from the things that try to bind you? If praise can do that, then what are you waiting for! If praise can do that, then we should all be singing nonstop. Well, it has happened before...and God can loose those chains of anger, fear, lying, adultery, chains of narcissism, depression, gossiping, procrastination, chains of profanity, premarital sex, pessimism in your life. Sing away your strongholds. Break every chain.

Affirm victory over that chain by lifting up to God your song of praise in the midst of your pit.
Affirm victory over that chain by telling God you trust Him even though the circumstances look grim.
Affirm victory over that chain by raising your voice in triumph versus defeat.

God hears the voice of those that hope and trust in Him. What song will you be singing to the Lord today? Break any negative strongholds in your life by calling on the name of the Lord!

The song says:

There is power in the name of Jesus,
There is power in the name of Jesus,
There is power in the name of Jesus, break every chain, break every chain, break every chain.

Affirm victory over satan with a song of praise

  2. Thank you Sisters! Today I'm singing that 'old' hymn - "My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name. On Christ, the Solid Rock I stand - all other ground is sinking sand". Hallelujah...thank you Jesus. Just the very thought of this brings a feeling of freedom - relief.

    God bless you richly.
