She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.” (Luke 2:37)

A TESTIFYING WIDOW

Anna’s Lifestyle:

Anna was a prophetess of her time, married for seven years, and a widow for 84 years. Wow, talk about taking singleness to a whole new level! Widows in the past usually had no one to care for them and were very poor, yet this didn’t stop Anna from serving God. She enclosed herself within the temple, worshiping, praying and fasting day in and day out. Anna never left the temple.

Where does your spiritual appetite lead you?

For years she devoted herself to, prayed for, and gave her all for the Messiah. Anna’s faithfulness paid off as she met her infant Master. Abandoning her life to worship God brought Him near to her (Luke 2:36-38, James 4:8).

What was the last thing you abandoned to draw closer to the Lord?

Anna’s Heritage:

Unashamed worship. Unrestricted worship. Devotion and divine connection. Persistence and prayer. Faith and fearlessness. She shared Jesus: “she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.” (v. 38)

Anna’s Testimony:

“I may have lost my husband, but I never lost my Lord.”

What’s Your Testimony?

Anna was a widow, but she still worshipped. You too have overcome! No matter where you’ve been or where you are in life, don’t let anything, any place, or any person keep you from worshipping God. Surrender your entire life to Him. What testimony will your life reveal?

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”
(Romans 12:11)
