But, grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
(2 Peter 3:18)

Word Study: Grow

The original meaning of grow in this verse is taken from the Greek word, Auxano, which means to enlarge, grow up, increase, become greater.

Let’s look at the word grow in the scripture above to see how it applies to our lives.

Are your mountains looming overhead like a dark cloud, getting in the way of your progress, and always on your mind? Today, we declare destruction! It’s time for us to grow up in Christ so that we can move the mountains that keep us from growing deeper in love with Jesus.

In order for us to grow up, grace has to fill us. Let grace be big in your life. The bigger your grace, the smaller your mountain. Grace is extending self to the point of sacrifice so that what you give glorifies God, uplifts others, and blesses you. We need to grow in that. If grace is enlarging you, then it’s moving your mountains.

Grace moves mountains out of your view

There are some things we need to look over and other things we need to overlook. We need to look over our mountains and look to Jesus. We need to overlook satan when he dangles destructive delicacies in our faces to distract us. Choose to look toward Jesus and away from your mountain.

Grace moves mountains out of your way

Are you lifting the weight of sin or laying it aside? Carrying heavy baggage in your spirit won't move mountains. Grace allows God to deal with a mountain, so you don’t have to lift it yourself. Grace moves mountains by turning the other cheek, biting one’s tongue, and going the extra mile.

Grace moves mountains out of your mind

We spend too much time thinking about the “what” that’s blocking us versus the “Who” who’s blessing us. Grow in the knowledge of Christ. Learn how He moved mountains. He, graciously, trusted in the Father, prayed, asked friends to pray with Him, spent time alone, sang, served, worshipped! Grow by imitating Christ.

Lord, we thank you for your spirit that fills your children. We praise you for enlarging us with your word. We glorify your name that grows deep within us. Teach us to model Jesus when it comes to extending grace. Forgive us for the times that we become puffed up and grieve your Spirit. We want to grow up in You, Lord. We want to know Jesus so well that our lives are a direct reflection of Him. Our desire is to decrease so that You can increase in us. In the vast name of Jesus we pray, Amen!

How will you grow to move mountains today?
