Mountain Moving Monday: Think

Monday, November 25, 2013

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly.” (Romans 12:3)

Word Study: Think

The original meaning of think in this verse is taken from the Greek word Fron-eh-o, which means to exercise the mind, have an opinion, set your affection on, or savor.

Let’s look at the word think in the scripture above to see how it applies to our lives.

Have you been transformed by the renewing of your mind? You can tell, by examining the thoughts you think.

Are you thinking fearfully? Angrily? Dreadfully? Or are your thoughts confident? Expectant? Worshipful? What you put in your mind will either transform you or keep you spiritually petite.

There are some thoughts that are too high and the scriptures tell us to cast down those high thoughts that have exalted themselves against the knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Maybe the mountain that you’ve erected in your life is a HIGH thought that needs to be moved. If you think your mountain is higher than God, that’s what you will focus on and that mountain will consume and destroy you. However, if you think your God is higher than the mountain, then He’s who you will focus on and He will satisfy and restore you.

What we think is usually what we create in our lives. What’s being manifested in your life? Check your thoughts and they will give you a good indication of what’s towering over you. If you can’t see God because you think your mountain is too high, then your thoughts need to change.

If you want to move mountains out of your life, direct your thoughts toward God.

Prayer:

Dear Lord and Master of heaven and earth, your thoughts are unreachable and even unthinkable and yet we praise you for the loftiness of your glory! We don’t have to be able to touch you to know you understand us; we don’t even have to see you, to believe in your goodness. We think You are awesome. We know you are able! We trust that what you think about us is all that matters and we pray that the thoughts we think will bring you glory. In the blessed name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

How will you think to move mountains today?
