Believest Thou Are His: Mini Devotional Series

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.” (1 Corinthians 7:32-35)

It is not sinful to be married or single.

In marriage, wives and husbands are to naturally serve one another, however for the unmarried it’s a little different. She is to be anxious about serving and pleasing the Lord in all that she does; with all of her body and spirit; and in all that she is.

Paul’s admonition to the church at Corinth was not to pressure them to be single as he was, nor was it to make them feel guilty about being married. He was urging the church to have an unconditional, unbroken, and undistracted devotion to God regardless of whatever relationship status they were in.

Do you ever feel left out because you’re not married or even in a relationship? Do you feel unworthy, overlooked, or behind in the dating scene? Do you want to know what to be doing in this season of singleness?

Our Believest Thou Are His mini-devotional series (beginning Mondays in February 2014) is an encouragement to our singles to address some of those questions. During the month of February, we are shrouded with love messages from all over the web and media…what greater LOVE message than to know that we can live our lives in devotion to Him and not be ashamed because we are worthy, we are cherished, we are beautiful…and we are His!

In the next few days we will release a video conversation of Melanie and Shanita, through our Facebook page, as they swap their experiences on singleness.

Join us for our Believest Thou Are His mini-devotional series and always remember, swap this message with a friend whom you believe can benefit from this study!

Even though this is a devotional geared at encouraging our singles, we invite our married couples to join the conversation! Share your experiences and give your spiritual support to those whom are single, so that we all may learn and continue to grow together in the Lord! ☺
