Mountain Moving Monday: Blame

Monday, June 23, 2014

According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.” (Ephesians 1:4)

Word Study: Blame

The original meaning of blame in this verse is taken from the Greek word, Amomos, which means without rebuke, spot, blot, or fault, unblemished.

Let’s look at the word blame in the scripture above to see how it applies to our lives.

To be without blame as the scripture denotes means that there is no blot in us. A blot is a shameful act or quality that tarnishes an otherwise good character; it is a thing that stains the appearance of something.

In the sight of God we are not stains. We have no imperfection in us that Jesus didn’t fix on the cross. We were not chosen because we are without blame; we were chosen because God had a perfect plan to have a relationship with a people that HE sees as His Son. Blameless.

When we’re covered in Jesus, He sees no spot of sin, no mark of misdemeanor, nor blot of brokenness.

He sees us without blame because He chose us to be without it. Therefore, no one can blame us for something that God doesn’t see in us. No charges can be brought against a people whom the Lord has chosen as His own to be entirely freed from all sin. Let's all stop and praise Him right now!

If we want to start moving mountains, we must remember the blame that Christ took on in our place. It was ours to carry, but He transported it up Golgotha Hill on His back. It was our blame to bear, but He bore it all so that we might live forever in Him. Our Savior, Jesus, abolished that blame on the cross. We must recognize that we could not create ourselves without spot, nor could we pray our faults away, but through the cleansing blood of Jesus in baptism, our faults, wrinkles, spots, blemishes, are removed (Ephesians 5:25-27, Acts 22:16, 1 Corinthians 6:11, Hebrews 10:10).

We are without blame because we are within Christ! That testimony alone will move a mountain!

Prayer:

Lord, God, thank you for choosing us that we might be without blame! We praise you for creating us in the image of your Son and formulating a perfect plan that we would be able to be cleansed from the stain of sin. We honor you for your perfection and spotlessness. We thank you that, in love, you chose us in You before the foundation of the world to be holy and without blame. Your word is true and we believe that baptism washes us and makes us new creatures in you! Thank you for your saving grace. In Jesus’ holy and divine name, Amen!

How will blame move mountains today?
