And the prayer of faith shall save the sick…pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:15, 16)

We read in James 5:15 about a “prayer of faith.” Faith, in this verse means to persuade or convince. The word “fervent” in James 5:16 means to be active, efficient, do.

If you think about it, we usually put great work into persuading someone to do something for us. We investigate everything about their ability to complete the task, we are convincing, charming, and even thank them for helping before they get started. Our prayer life should be the same. We should investigate what God has done in the past and bring it to His remembrance; we must convince Him by pouring out our hearts; we must be charming with a spirit that pleases Him; and then we must give Him thanks by praising and glorifying His name! Our prayers are not mere words thrown up into the atmosphere. Our words have power behind them! They do something! God acts on persuasive, not pretentious, prayers (Luke 18:10-14).

Is your prayer life active or inactive?

An inactive prayer life is wishy-washy and forgetful. An active prayer life is consistent.
An inactive prayer life doesn’t mention God’s promises. An active prayer life is repetitively fervent.
An inactive prayer life only asks of God in prayer. An active prayer life worships God in prayer.

Are your prayers active in times of trouble, yet inactive when things are going in your favor? Do they persuade God to rain down mercy or too feeble for Him to take seriously? If they don’t mean anything to us, why should they mean anything to Him? Why should God be persuaded to answer a prayer that we ourselves aren’t convinced will be fulfilled? We must free ourselves from the negative stronghold of an inactive prayer life so that we can be found reliable and persuasive. We want Him to take notice that what we pray is urgent and important to us.

There are so many blessings we receive daily that we haven’t even thought to pray for, but how great a feeling to have God bless us based off of our fervent, persuasive prayer of faith!? If He can hold off the rain for over 3 years for Elijah, then we can definitely become healed, whole servants because of our bold, audacious prayers! What a testimony!

Don’t miss your healing today because your prayer life is superficial. Don’t miss your healing because you’re counting other’s sins versus confessing your own. It is the prayer of faith, the persuasive, convincing, active prayer of the righteous that God hears and answers.

Believest Thou Are Healed? It’s time to consult your prayer life! Let us confess our faults and pray one for another so that we may be healed!

Let us pray…
