Mountain Moving Monday: Higher

Monday, October 27, 2014

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
(Isaiah 55:9)

Word Study: Higher

The original meaning of higher in this verse is taken from the Hebrew word, Gabahh, which means to be high, lofty, exalted, and upward.

Let’s look at the word higher in the scripture above to see how it applies to our lives.

The human eye cannot measure the distance between the heavens and the earth. But just because we can’t measure it doesn’t mean God has no control over what happens in our lives! His thoughts and ways are so high that He cannot be tripped up nor consumed by the likes of a mountain! He is infinite; therefore His mercy and love are enormously elevated to a height that no one could ever comprehend.

His plans are higher than our problems
His forgiveness is higher than our fears
His holiness is higher than our hatred
His peace is higher than our pain
His direction is higher than our depression
His wealth is higher than our worry
His salvation is higher than our sin

Sometimes we just need to think and be a little higher than what we're going through in order to move our mountains! We can move them by shifting our minds from thinking about the same old mess and stress; and by going a different way than the way that has always left us depleted. When we set our affections on things above, the mountains in our lives seem miniature.

If there is a mountain in your way, it’s time to move higher! We have to move from our ways and trust in the lofty ways and thoughts of the Lord.

Believest Thou Are Exalted? Will you go higher to move mountains today?

Dear Lord, we try to wrap our minds around how expansive your ways are and many times we just can't comprehend. Therefore, we thank you for your Spirit who comforts us and gives us a peace that passes all understanding when we can't fathom how you're so much higher and better than our problems. We pray that as we dwell in you that you exalt, raise, and lift us higher; higher than those things or people who try to keep us down! We believe we are exalted and give you the praise! In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen!
