And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment.”
(Matthew 9:20)

WORTH THE REACH

Perhaps we have yet to experience freedom because we feel everything good has to fall into our laps. The word of God reminds us so many times that we have a responsibility to reach for some stuff if we want to be free.

The woman with the issue of blood dealt with an internal agony that gave way to an external shunning. But even in the midst of her mess, she gathered up the strength to reach for Jesus.

Have you ever wondered why God left this woman nameless? Perhaps, so you could easily place your name in the story. Many times when a person’s name is used in scripture we may not be able to relate, however here, this could be any woman. We can easily see ourselves as the the woman with the “issue of abuse,” the woman with the “issue of depression,” the woman with the “issue of divorce,” the woman with the “issue of molestation,” the woman with the “issue of fear,” the woman with the “issue of cancer,” the woman with the “issue of unforgiveness,” the woman with the issue of low self-esteem.” What’s your issue?

When she reached for Jesus, He didn’t condemn her condition; He freed her. He looked down and saw her condition, but He didn’t embarrass her, He freed her from agony and made her whole. But she had to reach.

The grace of God says, I see you in your sin, but I want to be your Savior. I see your struggle, but I want to be your Savior. I see your condition, but I want to be your Savior. Draw nigh unto me.

Freedom is within reach ladies so don’t let your issue hold you back any longer. You may have been dealing with this issue for years – reach! This may be a new problem you’re faced with – reach!

The woman reached; Jesus freed.

This Freedom Friday, we have only one question for you: Is He worth the reach to you?
