It's Time to Break Through Generational Curses

Thursday, August 13, 2015

Jesus declared, ‘Go now and leave your life of sin.’” (John 8:11, NIV)

A generational curse is not God putting a jinx or a spell on your family; but rather it is the consequences of unhealthy traditions passed down from one generation to the next. These actions lead to sin, which separate us from God.

We live in a day and age where most children are encouraged to follow in their parents’ footsteps. Whether that is to carry on the family business, attend their parents’ alma mater, or to lead in the same church or community, we always look to the children to enhance the family lineage.

But what about the families who have passed on unhealthy lifestyles to their children? Legacies of abuse (substance or physical), fear, jealousies, bitterness, apathy, or desertion are plaguing so many homes and severing family lifelines. These generational curses must be broken.

Whether you found yourself in the first scenario or the second, God be thanked that through the workings of Jesus on the cross, we all have an option not to follow after man, but to chase after the Lord. We want to uncover a few generational curses that have been responsible for tearing some families apart and deterring so many people from following after Christ.

Jesus said in John 8:11, leave your life of sin… If you look now at your family or even what’s left of it, we’re sure you can identify some unhealthy patterns, shameful secrets, hidden sins that need to be broken and left behind.

Take a moment and reflect on your family…any long lasting feuds and grudges, divorces, secrets, shame, heartaches? Are you holding on to negative strongholds that are hindering your freedom?

It’s TIME to BREAK THROUGH GENERATIONAL CURSES and turn to JESUS who is the only CURE for the curse that plagues the family.

Join us for the last 2 weeks of August for Transformational Tuesdays and Thursdays as we take a stand against the unhealthy lifestyles that have been passed down from one generation to the next. We will uncover 4 generational curses and seek Jesus’ cure:

1) Poverty Mindset 2) Toxic Relationships 3) Negativity 4) Rejection of God

It’s not enough to say that your children can make the change or someone else in the family can do it; the transformation begins once the truth is acknowledged.

Once you identify what’s been plaguing your family, you are responsible for breaking it…the cycle stops with you.
