"Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call."
(Acts 2:38-39, NIV)

  1. This verse is showing the undeniable gift of the Holy Spirit which is given after one has been baptized. After we give ourselves totally to God, we have access to the gift of the Spirit, which is His divine leading, teaching, comfort, admonition, the revealing of God's word and so much more. The promise of the Spirit was not for those in attendance at Peter's sermon, but this is to all of us today, when we get into Christ through baptism! It's a reminder to turn from the way of sin in order to receive the blessings of God!
