Praying in the Spirit

With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.”
(Ephesians 6:18)

When we study the scripture Ephesians 6 on the armor of God, we often slight ourselves by not going down one more verse to include prayer. What can prayer do, you may be asking? It's so passive. James 5:16, says the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. This pretty much means, prayer when exercised with passion, faith, and consistency, will produce powerful effects. We cannot neglect this power when we're dressing ourselves with the armor of God.

Prayer is one of the woman of God’s most powerful tools for combat against the enemy.

With it, she demolishes strongholds, weakens the enemy’s influence in her life, silences the deafening negativity of the world, and heals and soothes aching hearts which long for God's love and mercy.

For the month of May, twice a week, we will share a scripture and a prayer to focus our minds on the powerful work of the Spirit in prayer and to also saturate our lives with constant conversation with the only ONE who answers us when we call out to Him. Because the Spirit intercedes for the children of God, when we don't know what to pray, we can be confident that even when we're perplexed, distressed, and heavy-laden, that the Spirit takes our pleas to the Master on our behalf...what a privilege!

Each time you pray, whether in your prayer closet or on the go, attempt to listen to the Lord. The best way to hear God is to open up the word to a scripture which will bring you a truth to meditate on throughout the day. With that truth, lay your whole heart and soul vulnerably before the Lord, holding nothing back! He will have compassion...and He will hear.

Dear God, as we begin this journey of praying in the Spirit, we first ask that you forgive us for anything we've committed or omitted that may hinder this prayer. If there are wrongs that need to be righted, correct us Father. If there are issues that need to be faced, give us the courage and wisdom to face these problems and ultimately give them over to your hands. We command the shackles of pain, shame, and regret, that have bound us for years, to be loosed! We declare strongholds broken! We declare the enemy defeated! We submit to you and speak life over all those within our reach! Father, place within each woman reading this prayer, a spirit of compliance with your will. May she yield to you and allow you to touch the deepest parts of her soul. May your Spirit intercede, when nothing but tears flow from us. God, tear the barriers down in our hearts that are keeping our hearts hardened. Give us tenderness, calm minds, and graceful actions as we interact with our loved ones and strangers each day. Deliver us from evil, temptation, and bitterness. Remind us that it isn't all about us, but about your Son, Jesus, who gave His life for us that we might have eternal life. We thank you for His sacrifice and pray that we sacrifice our schedules, our wants and desires, and our human reasonings to spend more quiet time alone with you. Transform us for the better Lord...In Jesus' name we pray, Amen!
