Praying in the Spirit

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

To our sister who is having trouble trusting the Lord, please pray with us:

Dear God and Father of all,

The Creator of this great world, who sent His Son, Jesus, to be the Savior of our souls; we submit to You on this new day. We humble ourselves, not merely because we’re unworthy, but because we know in You, we have everything that pertains unto life and godliness. We have gifts and abundance that we never asked for! You have freely provided understanding; You have prearranged footsteps for us to walk in; and you have dispensed Your wonderful love upon us…daily. Because of this we come to Your throne of grace and mercy with honest and open hearts ready to receive what you have for us.

As many of us opened our Bibles this morning and others of us as we meditate on the scripture above from our computers and mobile devices, we have one thing in common... we seek direction, God. We wake up sometimes and though we feel in our hearts we trust You, we don’t always trust Your way. It’s uncertain, it’s unclear, and it’s unknown, so we retreat. But today, we're seeking You. Father, forgive us for giving up on You, when You have only had our best interests at heart. Teach us to worship while we’re waiting. Be patient with us when we choose our way, which is clear and controllable, versus Your way, though it’s sure and immeasurable.

God, we’ve placed our trust in so many people in this life and they have let us down, left us lonely, broken our hearts, and taken advantage of us, so it’s hard to trust anyone or acknowledge You when we have such huge issues at stake. We have decisions about school, our families, our futures, retirement, graduation, health, children, or no children, relationships, finding a job or living our dreams, where to worship, where to live, the care of our parents, mental health challenges, weight fluctuations, social advocacy, political engagement, unfortunate transitions...on top of these things we're trying to figure out how to please You.

Lord, God, the enemy wants us to stay in a state of ambiguity and fear. He wants us to hesitate and relapse. But in the mighty name of Jesus, we rebuke the stronghold he is trying to yoke us with…we declare him defeated so that we may walk in wisdom and understanding. We speak clarity, peace, and joy in our journeys. We choose and acknowledge You, knowing in our seeking of You, the path is made clearer for us.

Remind us that when we don’t know how to trust that we have the help of your Spirit, calming us and leading us towards You. Thank you Father, for being our Waymaker and our Pilot for this journey. Lead us to a deeper love and trusting relationship with You!

In Jesus’ holy name we pray and ask it all, Amen!
