Trusting the Holy Spirit: The Revelation

Monday, July 18, 2016

Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages. But has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith.”
(Romans 16:25-26, ESV)

We’d be lying if we said we didn’t want to know the answers to life’s tests. If you're like us, you may, from time to time [or for all time], want to remove any and all guesswork from life and walk in confidence knowing what you will experience from day to day. We feel knowing what’s best or what’s next, would make living this life so awesome!

We know we’re not alone in this. You secretly want this too...right?

We want to know whether to take the promotion on a job we don’t necessarily love; or if we should take a pay cut for the job that we see ourselves enjoying for the rest of our lives.

We want to know whether to choose the person who is not necessarily good for us, even though they provide good company; or if we should choose contentment in our single season.

We want to know whether to homeschool our children, even though we struggled as students and don't know the first thing about teaching; or if we should risk sending them to public or private school with all the issues going on in the world today.

We. Want. Answers.

We want God to reveal to us, but we struggle with trusting Him.

Before He reveals His will to us, we may have to stare the enemy in the face, stand our ground, and say we trust God, even if it seems weird, if we think we’ll be alone, or if it seems we’re the only one going through this. We have to trust that He knows what's best for us.

Out of all the things God could have manifested clearly to us, the scripture above states that He chose to reveal His plan to save mankind. It is through the plain preaching of Jesus that salvation is offered and that we are strengthened.

Today, you may want to know how to maneuver through this storm, but it may be time to meditate on The One who can calm it! (Luke 8:22-25)

Today, you may want to know which way to go from here, but it may be time to merely trust The Way! (John 14:5-6)

Today, you may desire comfort in food, wealth, or even another person, but it may be time to acknowledge The Comforter who dwells within you! (John 14:16-17)

God will strengthen you in every area of your life by reminding you of Jesus, who gave His life for you! So, as you seek answers to life's questions, we hope that, like us, that if the answer comes in the form of Jesus Christ alone, that He will suffice. We hope that you won't resist Him, because He doesn't look like what you would choose for your life. We hope that you would accept and obey Him, for He is... the only and the BEST answer to life's many tests and trials.

Dear Father, we know that the teacher is typically silent during the test; yet today, we earnestly seek you for answers. If that means the revealing of yourself in our situation, we accept you. In our quest for the answers, we ask you God, for the ability to trust your way; we ask for strength to follow your will; and we ask for peace in choosing your purpose for our lives. God, if we leave this earth, only having received you, we trust that we’ve received it all. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
