Enemy Distractions

"Be anxious for nothing, but IN everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

I just returned from an amazing weekend of celebration, revival, rejuvenation, and worship at the 32nd Annual Church of Christ Ladies Lectureship Retreat, held in sunny Orlando, Florida!

Come here girl, we prayed, cried, performed, taught, watched plays, sang, laughed, broke shackles, and opened our hearts and minds to be released from the trap of the enemy! The theme was Diamonds in the Rough taken from the scripture Zechariah 13:9, and we fought our way to the surface, as God scraped, purified, molded and shaped us into women He created and purposed us to be! My spirit was filled from Thursday to Sunday and God was praised in a place of about 1600 ladies!

But just as sure as God is being praised, satan is always sitting on the sidelines contemplating his next move to knock us off our worship groove

He hates the sound and sight of people worshipping God, because he hates the sound and sight of His wonderful works. He dislikes the attention God gets, because he feels he deserves the honor and the worship. He despises the prayers for healing, help, and restoration, because his future has already been secured for hell and he wants to take as many people with him as possible.

He prowls and constructs blocks that hinder the continual adoration of God and places distractions in our path of purpose. For me, all weekend, I was dealing with family drama. Though it looked as if I had nothing going on, he was going in on my mind for not obliging to a situation that I didn't even cause.

Distraction.

Not only that, I had 4 amazing flights there and back (enjoying the luxuries of coffee and peanuts and pretzels at 50,000 feet) and enjoying the comforts and extravagance of amazing hotel accommodations only to walk into my own front door Sunday evening to flooded hardwood floors and soaked carpet in my bedroom from a clogged pipe that burst.

Distraction

Was I concerned, yes. Were my feelings hurt and did I feel guilty for my decisions for standing my ground, for sure. satan knows the way to attack me is to influence me to worry, which is why my life scripture is Philippians 4:6,7, "Be anxious for nothing, but IN everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

I've learned to combat the enemy's distractions by praying for God's peace.

My very best and closest friend and SAP reminded me today, to pray and be at peace and to do what I love, in order to release, write.

Let me encourage you, sister, the devil is the king of distraction and the master of disaster. When you are high in praise, he will make you feel low for not moving the way tells you to move. When your mind is stayed on Jesus, he will dangle a dysfunction in your face to divert your attention from the Father.

Do not be deceived. Do not allow him to win. In the midst of your trials you can rise up and be victorious. You can trust your decisions, led by the Spirit, and be at peace. You can praise God in the midst of your pain and smile when the suffering surrounds! I'm a witness and a testimony!

You are a diamond and if something is cutting you deep to the core, it could very well be God polishing you to present you beautiful, redeemed, and restored before Him.

There is purpose in your pain; don't let the hurt distract you from His help.

Stay faithful. Stay prayerful! Stay shining!
